Michael Markus graduated from Ithaca College with a Bachelor of Music degree in Percussion Performance. For the last 14 years, Michael has immersed himself in the music and dance of Guinea, West Africa. He has studied with several of the most accomplished master Guinean artists, both in New York and Guinea, where he travels yearly. In 1997, Michael founded Magbana Drum and Dance NYC. In addition to performing, Michael teaches workshops throughout the United States and Canada.
